During the past eight years, the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run has raised over half a million dollars for local kids charities. This year’s deserving beneficiary is Bert's Big Adventure, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with terminal and chronic illnesses and their families.
“Our goal is to offer hope when there is little and to ease the burden caused by chronic and terminal illnesses in children. The funds raised by the participants of the Atlanta Santa SpeedoRun will make a huge impact on these sweet families and will help create memories withthe child that will last the family a lifetime.” -- Bert Weiss, founder of Bert’s Big Adventure and host of Q100's The Bert Show.
Established in 2002, Bert’s Big Adventure is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Following the annual trip, Bert’s Big Adventure provides year-round support through initiatives such as the Reunion Adventures (family reunions where families from all 16 years are invited to gather together for a VIP experience), the Fairy Godparent volunteer program (volunteers provide daily visits to Bert’s Big Adventure children in the hospital), and additional charitable services. The trip and programs create a community of families that establish lasting friendships with others facing similar challenges.
“Our goal is to offer hope when there is little and to ease the burden caused by chronic and terminal illnesses in children. The funds raised by the participants of the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run will make a huge impact on these sweet families and will help create memories with the child that will last the family a lifetime,” said Bert Weiss, founder of Bert’s Big Adventure and host of Q100's The Bert Show.
On Saturday, December 9, runners will meet at Hudson Grille Midtown to run a mile in Speedos and holiday-inspired swimwear. Participants and onlookers, alike, are encouraged to gather to celebrate, drink a few beers, and kick-off a wild, swimsuit-wearing winter fun run benefiting the Bert’s Big Adventure community. All participants are asked to raise a minimum of $250 in support of Bert’s Big Adventure.
“We are excited to partner with Bert’s Big Adventure,” said Atlanta Santa Speedo Run Board Chair, Michael Weaver. “Their commitment to children and families in the Atlanta area is important to us, and we look forward to making a difference in the lives of these deserving families.”

Not registered for the 2016 Atlanta Santa Speedo Run? With one month to go, it's the perfect time to sign-up and start fundraising to help kids and young families through CHRIS 180 and win fabulous prizes while at it.
Registered and need a fundraising boost? Check-out these tried-and-true tips from past super, successful Santas:
Give to yourself - When you are building your page during the registration process, you'll be asked if you'd like to make the very first donation. Do it! By doing so, other potential donors not only see you contribution, but it also sets an important precedent. If you give $50 bucks (or even $100), your donors might do the same!
Leverage Thanksgiving - There's no better time to ask donors for their contribution than during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Make it real- Check out what CHRIS 180 can accomplish with these levels of donations:
$25 - Art/play therapy session supplies for 1 of 2,700 counseling center youth
$50 - New bedding set for one of 48 group home foster youth
$100 - 1 month MARTA pass for a young adult to get to work or a set of dishes/pots/pans for homeless young adult in CHRIS 180 apartment
$250 - Cost for one foster youth to participate in high school sport, marching band, art classes, or theater
$500 - Winter coats for six youth or GED tests for four young adults
Every little bit counts - If someone says they aren't sure they can donate, let them know every little bit counts. Skip 2 lattes! 25 people donating $10 each still qualifies you for our goodie bag!!!

During the past seven years, the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run has raised over half a million dollars for local kids charities. This year’s deserving beneficiary is CHRIS 180, which believes that potential is a right, not a privilege and we are dedicated to the children, youth and families we serve to unlock their potential happiness, health and success despite challenging circumstances, often beyond their control.
