On your mark, get set, THANK YOU! The 2016 Atlanta Santa Speedo Run is off to a strong start!
The Atlanta Santa Speedo Run Beer Bust was a big success this past Sunday, with over 50 participants helping us down 160+ beers, raise $700, and sign-up some of our earliest and most enthusiastic fundraisers for our December 10th main event. With door prize give-aways every 15 minutes, there was never a dull moment at this Sunday Funday.
We'd also like to extend a big ole, North Pole Santa "thank you" to our host restaurant F.R.O.G.S., the perfect spot for any Sunday Funday. - 931 Monroe Dr, Midtown Promenade, Atlanta, GA 30308
During the past seven years, the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run has raised over half a million dollars for local kids charities. This year’s deserving beneficiary is CHRIS Kids, whose mission is to heal children, strengthen families and build community.
Join us for Sunday Funday at F.R.O.G.S. Midtown on July 31st from 2-5pm for our Christmas in July Beer Bust! For $10 you'll receive unlimited beer from our kegs. F.R.O.G.S. will also donate a portion of all bar drink sales and we will have some awesome raffle items (see below for partial list of items). Christmas came early for CHRIS Kids and the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run. The Atlanta Santa Speedo Run selected the non-profit CHRIS Kids as the beneficiary for its 8th annual fun run. The partnership aims to raise $100,000 for the organization.
"We are thrilled to return as a beneficiary of the 2016 Atlanta Santa Speedo Run. The funds raised from this event will support programs that provides safe and stable housing, specialized counseling, and individualized life skills training and support services to high needs children in Georgia’s foster care system and to homeless youth in our community. Last year, we served over 5,100 people in our community and are confident that the money raised from this event will allow for expanded impact” said Brittany Burnett, vice president of Development for CHRIS Kids.
The mission of CHRIS Kids is to heal children, strengthen families and build community. CHRIS Kids, Inc. exists to improve the lives of children and strengthen families through innovative, trauma informed services that inspire hope, create self-sufficiency and reduce future dependency on government. The funds raised from the run will be used to support services that assist some of the most vulnerable and under-served homeless youth in the community.
“We are excited to once again partner with CHRIS Kids,” said Atlanta Santa Speedo Run Board Chair, Michael Weaver. “Their commitment to children and families in the Atlanta area is important to us, and we look forward to partnering with them in support of their mission.” This year will mark the second time CHRIS Kids has been selected as a beneficiary for the annual fun run. They were also selected as the beneficiary of the inaugural run in 2009. On Saturday, December 10, 2016 approximately 300 runners will meet at a local tavern to run a mile in Speedos and holiday-inspired swimwear. All participants are asked to raise a minimum of $250 in support of CHRIS Kids.
